Maya joined Ajman University after serving as the Logistics and Administration Manager for Emirates Aquatech, the largest indoor caviar farm in the world located in Abu Dhabi. In this role, she established and executed manuals, policies, and procedures for Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, HR, Procurement, IT, Food Production/Processing/Safety, and Logistics. Under her leadership, Emirates Aquatech was awarded a Grade A rating from the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority for two consecutive years, in addition to achieving the status of a model facility, where other institutions were referred to by the regulatory authorities to follow lead in EHS related standards and practices.

Maya is an internationally certified auditor for five ISO standards, including food safety, HACCP, quality management, occupational health, and environmental management systems. She is an active member of various organizations, such as the Global Ambassadors of Sustainability, Emirates Green Building Council, Emirates Higher Education Network for Safety Professionals, Arab expert in the Environmental Center for Arab Towns, and an affiliate member in IEMA. At Ajman University, Maya manages the Office of Sustainability, where she has successfully implemented a range of initiatives and campaigns related to climate change, environmental sustainability, zero waste, emergency preparedness, food safety and security, first aid and fire safety, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and carbon neutrality. She has also enrolled Ajman University in global networks, such as the United Nations’ Higher Education Sustainability Initiative, Race to Zero, and the “Nature Positive Pledge” for biodiversity, along with the University of Oxford.

Additionally, Maya represented Ajman University at COP27 in Sharm AlSheikh, Egypt, where she delivered a presentation on empowering youth for climate action. She recently organized the “Make it Sustainable” Forum, which featured three main pillars: the Role of Higher Education Institutions in promoting sustainable development goals, Platform for Synergies, and Road to COP28. Currently, Maya is pursuing her MBA in Health and Safety Leadership as well as the NEBOSH International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
