Professor Maamar Bettayeb Vice Chancellor for Research & Graduate Studies University of Sharjah Is a control theorist, educator, and inventor.

Listed as one of the top 2% scientists (career impact) according to Elsevier Data Repository. He has a robust background in electrical engineering, holding B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southern California U.S. With a distinguished career that includes significant research contributions, highly admired research roles and leadership within the academic field. Among his notable roles is his work as a research scientist at Shell Oil Development Company in the United States, focusing on the development of seismic signal processing algorithms for gas and oil exploration. He also served as the Director of the Scientific Instrumentation and Control Laboratory at the High Commission for Scientific Research in Algeria. Furthermore, he worked in the Electrical Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia before joining the University of Sharjah in 2000. In 2014, he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor for Research & Graduate Studies. Professor Bettayeb has authored over 450 papers and supervised more than 50 graduate students.

He has received numerous awards, such as the Best Distinguished Research Award and the Best Researcher Award, and has demonstrated international impact through his roles as an External Examiner and Visiting Professor. He is highly admirable for his extensive expertise in the fields of control and signal processing, in addition to his current research interests in wavelets, renewable energies, and fractional dynamics.
