In Memoriam: Ahmed Al-Attar, an esteemed figure of Arab and Global Science Journalism

We express our heartfelt sadness as we bid farewell to Ahmed Al-Attar, a prominent environmental journalist whose contributions to the field were unparalleled. Al-Attar’s career was a testament to his dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to raising awareness about critical environmental issues.

An Egyptian investigative journalist and trainer, he specialized in open-source investigations and environmental and climate issues. He was also the founder and editor-in-chief of the Ozone platform, focusing on climate change in the Middle East, and served as a consultant at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) in Washington.

Throughout his remarkable journey, Al-Attar garnered numerous prestigious awards, including the ARIJ Award for Investigative Journalism in 2012, the German Siemens Award in 2016, and the Egyptian Journalism Awards in both 2015 and 2020.
