Tevhide Serra Gorpe is a professor of communication at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Relations and Publicity from Istanbul University, a Master’s degree in Public Relations from Boston University, USA, and a Master’s degree in Social Psychology from Bogazici University, Türkiye.
From 2000 to 2013, Tevhide served as a professor at the Faculty of Communications at Istanbul University, where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the Public Relations and Publicity Department. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Texas at Austin in 2002 and has held adjunct teaching positions at several institutions, including Eastern Mediterranean University (North Cyprus), Istanbul Bilgi University, the European University of Lefke (North Cyprus), İzmir University of Economics, TC Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University, and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining the University of Sharjah, she worked at Zayed University in the College of Communication and Media Sciences.
Her research focuses on public relations, strategic communication, international public relations, communication education, crisis management, health communication, and corporate responsibility and sustainability. Tevhide also brings industry experience from both corporate roles and public relations agencies before transitioning into academia.
At the University of Sharjah, Tevhide has been involved in several initiatives, including serving as Co-Chair of the Sustainability Education Circle: “Sustainability Curriculum” and as Coordinator of the IU GreenMetric Online Course on Sustainability. She established the Health and Science Communication Research Group and currently serves as its Coordinator.
She is a Board Member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA), a Disciplinary Committee member of the Turkish Public Relations Association (TUHID), a member of the International Public Relations (IPRA) Academic Chapter, and a member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
Tevhide is among the early professors involved in the doctoral program at the College of Communication at the University of Sharjah and has extensive teaching experience across diverse courses and academic levels. She is currently pursuing a third master’s degree in Leadership in Higher Education. She speaks Turkish (native), English, French, and German.
