Dr. Tarek Y. S. Kapiel is currently serving as the Rapporteur of the Committee on Arts, Social Sciences, Scientific Culture, Strategic Studies, Science and Technology Indicators at the Office of Technical Evaluation, Follow-up, and Performance Evaluation of the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt. He holds the position of Emeritus Assistant Professor in Plant Biotechnology at the Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt.
Dr. Kapiel’s academic journey includes Bachelor of Science from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, Cairo University. Master’s degree in Genetic Engineering and plant tissue culture from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, Cairo University. Ph.D. degree in the field of Genetic Engineering, Plant Tissue Culture, and Biotechnology.
His doctoral research was conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBRI) at the University of Menoufia and Clemson University, SC, USA. He has a rich professional background: Visiting Scientist at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Forestry, Department of Horticulture, Clemson University, South Carolina. Visiting Professor at the same institution. Scientific Advisor and Mentor at Governor School of Science and Mathematics, South Carolina, U.S. Consultant at Southern Sun Microsystems Research Company. Dr. Kapiel has actively represented Egypt in international forums: Jordanian Egyptian joint Synchrotron initiatives.
European Union and the World Intellectual Property Organization. He is a member of several associations and scientific bodies and has contributed to various national scientific projects.
