What is the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication (AFSMC)?
The Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication is the first event of its kind to be held in the Arab region, gathering those who are interested in the fields of media and scientific communication in the Arab region.
The annual Forum aims to bring together science journalists, science communicators, researchers and scientists to exchange ideas and thoughts and empower the science communication industry in MENA. Also, we are gathering government, private sector and non-governmental organizations dedicated to media and science communication, as well as university students studying media, journalism, and science.
Is AFSMC25 an in-person or virtual event?
AFSMC 2025 is a hybrid experience, offering both in-person and virtual participation. It’s scheduled January 27 and 28, 2025, and will feature in-person activities and sessions at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on January 27. These in-person events will also be broadcast online.
On January 28, the event will transition to entirely virtual sessions, providing flexibility for attendees to participate from anywhere in the region.
Does the ticket include travel, accommodation, or other costs?
No, the ticket price covers only the attendance fee and access to the AFSCM25 activities.
It does not include expenses related to travel, accommodation, or any other additional costs. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, and any other associated costs.
Do you provide certificates for attending the forum?
Yes, attendees who attend at least 50% of the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication’s content will receive certificates of attendance.
Are all the forum sessions recorded?
Yes, all sessions at the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication are recorded and exclusively made available to attendees after the event concludes. You will receive an email notification when the recordings are uploaded to the website.
What is the ticket cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your registration, please use the link in your confirmation email or email info@scicommx.com with “Cancellation” in the subject line. If the cancellation request is received before the forum begins, you will receive a full refund. However, no refunds can be made once the forum event starts on 27th January 2025.
Please note that non-attendance does not constitute a cancellation, and purchasing a ticket grants you access to the recordings of all forum sessions, including past sessions. However, we encourage you to attend the event in real-time to maximize the benefits of networking and interacting with peers and experts.
What if I miss a session/workshop?
All AFSMC25 are recorded, allowing you to access and view any missed content for up to one year after the forum.
Can I share my forum login information with others?
No, each individual has their own personalized registration and login information, which cannot be shared. Whova provides a customized attendance experience for each attendee. Please note that only one device (computer, laptop, or phone) can access the virtual forum using the same login information.
