What is the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication (AFSMC)?
The Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication is the first event of its kind to be held in the Arab region, gathering those who are interested in the fields of media and scientific communication in the Arab region.
The annual Forum aims to bring together science journalists, science communicators, researchers and scientists to exchange ideas and thoughts and empower the science communication industry in MENA. Also, we are gathering government, private sector and non-governmental organizations dedicated to media and science communication, as well as university students studying media, journalism, and science.
What is special about the 2026 edition?
The 2026 edition is a special edition featuring the AFSMC-PCST Symposium 2026—an extension of the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication (AFSMC) and the Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) network, a global organisation that promotes discussion on the theory and practice of communicating science, and of public discourses about science and technology and their role in society.
This landmark event will bring together leading researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers under the theme “Science Media and Communication Teaching and Research in the Arab World.”
When and where will AFSMC-PCST Symposium 2026 take place?
The forum will be held in person in 2026 (exact dates to be announced) in the United Arab Emirates. Unlike previous editions, this will not be a hybrid event; however, all in-person sessions will be live-streamed for virtual-ticket holders.
Does the ticket include travel, accommodation, or other costs?
No, the ticket price covers only the attendance fee and access to the AFSMC-PCST Symposium 2026.
It does not include expenses related to travel, accommodation, or any other additional costs. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, and any other associated costs.
Do you provide certificates for attending the forum?
Yes, attendees who attend at least 50% of the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication’s content will receive certificates of attendance.
Are all the forum sessions recorded?
Yes, all sessions at the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication are recorded and exclusively made available to attendees after the event concludes. You will receive an email notification when the recordings are uploaded to the website.
What is the ticket cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your registration, please use the link in your confirmation email or email info@scicommx.com with “Cancellation” in the subject line. If the cancellation request is received before the forum begins, you will receive a full refund. However, no refunds can be made once the forum event starts on.
Please note that non-attendance does not constitute a cancellation, and purchasing a ticket grants you access to the recordings of all forum sessions, including past sessions. However, we encourage you to attend the event in real-time to maximize the benefits of networking and interacting with peers and experts.
What if I miss a session/workshop?
All AFSMC-PCST Symposium 2026 sessions are recorded, allowing you to access and view any missed content for up to one year after the forum.
Can I share my registration or login with someone else?
No, each attendee has a personalized registration and login, which cannot be shared. The system provides a customized experience, and each login can only be used on one device at a time.
