Carmen Koessler (née Smith) is a Canadian science communicator and community engagement strategist with more than a decade of experience delivering innovative, interactive programs and communication projects in collaboration with scientists, governments, and non-profit organizations worldwide. She currently works as an independent science communicator, partnering with research teams to share their stories across digital media, including story maps, videos, data visualizations, and more, through her consultancy, CK Communication Services.
Carmen’s work in science communication centers on collaboration and empowering the teams and individuals she supports. Her recent projects have included collaborations with teams from Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Uganda, the UK, India, Malaysia, Australia, and the UAE. She also serves as a TEDx Victoria evaluator, supporting individuals in developing and presenting impactful and inspiring ideas for the global TED and TEDx platforms.
In her free time, Carmen enjoys fishing and hiking with her husband and dog, crafting, cooking, and sharing delicious food with friends and family.
